Buying an excavator for construction costs heavily upon budget of the owner. If it performs all the function correctly then it is a lifetime investment and if it is not up to the expectations and defected then it is a big problem.
Always do pre operation inspection before buying an excavator. Here are some tips to follow so that you want fall into the trap of ending problems.
Pre operation inspection has three things to take account into:
General Walk Around:
First of all, the general walk of an excavator around is necessary to clarify and make sure whether there is any damage or not. It starts off with examining the track pads of the excavator and chain liked buckle underneath. If they are sharp and doesn’t look same as other part of the buckle, it needs to be replaced immediately. Sprockets at the bottom of the pad must have all the projections (teeth). Track tension should be balanced. It should neither be so tight and so loose nor sloping as per user manual specifications. At the back of the excavator, down panels should not ne dented.
Next step is to examine the machine cylinders. It needs to be replaced if it contains dirt and hydraulic oil patches all around as it is an obvious sign of leaking. The bucket of the excavator should not be broken and all its teeth should be compact. Make sure that boom cylinders of the cab at upper side should not be leaking. Fluid tank should be cleaned; it should not be dirty by snow and rain. Check the fuel and oil up to an appropriate level.
Compartments checking:
Compartments are pivotal in function of the machine. Now, unleash the engine compartment and remove the dipstick to check the oil level. Check the radiator cap and coolant must be contained in radiator. Make sure that nothing is broken. Open the side compartment to check oil filters, fuel filters and hydraulic pump. Nothing should be cracked or leaked in it. Another important examination is to remove the ice and drain off the water in fuel filters. Clarify that wires are right in their place. At the back of the excavator check that fins of the condenser are not dented. Air cooler, air filter and radiator are working fine. Add the right amount of coolant in coolant reservoir if it below the set level. Clean the air filter from time to time.by pulling it out.
Operator Set:
Cab should be cleaned and tidy from the inside for a smooth working. It leavers should be moved properly, seat should be comfortable, seat belts function well, foot controls should not be sticky or stuck. Turn the key on and check the radio and monitor reading and complete the all steps for pre operation inspection.
Finally, read the user manual from the manufacturing company and follow all the steps recommended by manufacturer.
